Shoe trees will restore the shape of the upper material and smooth the linings in the shoe, absorbing any remaining water and odour. Remove newspaper or tissue after 12 hours and replace with Shoe Trees if you have them. Place crumpled newspaper or tissue inside the shoe for 10-12 hours to soak up any excess water. If your golf shoes become soaked during a round, clean them quickly after. Do not place the shoes directly in the sun, but rather allow them to air-dry in a shaded area or indoors. Blot or dab at the mesh with a cold water-dampened cloth to remove soap residue. Scrub the mesh to remove dirt, dust and residue. Dip a soft cloth or soft-bristled cleaning brush in the soapy water. If the shoe uppers are made from a mesh material, soak them in the sink with a squirt of liquid dish soap or laundry detergent and warm water. If the shoes are a dark colour, use a combination of FootJoy shoe cleaner and an applicable colour shoe creme to maintain the look and conditioning of the full grain or calfskin leather. If the leather golf shoes are white, apply FootJoy white cleaner to remove unwanted scuff marks. Excessive heat can damage both the uppers and the outsoles. Allow to air dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight, do not dry your shoes using a blow-dryer or by putting them on any external heat source. If you are cleaning leather golf shoes or synthetic golf shoes, remove dirt and residue using FootJoy shoe cleaner or mild soap and water. And finally, we recommend you don’t store your shoes in your car, where high temperatures can slowly break down some of the materials used in the shoe, resulting in a decreased life-span of the golf shoe.ĭifferent cleaning techniques are required for FootJoy golf shoes, depending on the upper material of the shoe. You must always check the cleats of the shoe (if spiked) before and after a round to ensure they are intact and secured properly. Damage to the heel can cause improper fit in the heel which can lead to blistering and overall discomfort. Ideally, you would use a shoehorn when putting on the shoes to protect the heel of the shoe and always leave shoe trees in your golf shoes when not in use to order to maintain the shape of the shoe. We recommend rotating two pairs of shoes between rounds, which will last longer than the life of a single pair. We recommend both leather and synthetic shoes are thoroughly cleaned and properly stored between rounds to prolong the life of the golf shoe. If you are going to buy a FootJoy golf shoe, proper care and attention is needed to prolong and maintain the look, feel, comfort and performance of your shoes.
